No hassle, easy (like Sunday morning) to peel hard boiled eggs. Perfect Sunday meal prep idea!
Happy Sunday, y’all! I’m not sure what a typical Sunday looks like in your home but for us, it’s usually a quiet day at home relaxing and preparing for the week ahead – cleaning, laundry, meal prep.
Nash isn’t mush help on Sundays. He’s just cute.
I am not one of those super dedicated meal preppers who has every meal for every day of the week perfectly portioned and in it’s own container. I just like to make sure that there are a few things on hand ready for the week. Washed greens for salads, chopped veggies, maybe some grilled chicken and maybe a couple easy breakfast or snack options. Muffins are typically at the top of that list, particularly this one HERE, but I also like to make hard boiled eggs.
Hard boiled eggs are a great way to quickly add protein to your breakfast and make for an easy post-workout, pre-supper snack.
Now because I make a batch of these almost every week, I have tried every method out there. I have started with hot water, started with cold, used a lid, not used a lid, put some sort of ingredient in the water, used just water. Seriously. Everything! I finally found a method that not only makes the eggs super easy to peel but it also keeps that grey ring away from the yolk. Because I know how frustrating it can be to get that perfect hard boiled egg, I have decided to share the method that I use with you. So here you go!
Step 1: Bring eggs to room temperature
Step 2: Bring a pot of water to a boil over high heat.
Step 3: Slowly lower eggs into water using a slotted spoon.
Step 4: Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer eggs for 14 minutes.
Step 5: Place eggs into an ice bath for 5 minutes.
Step 6: To peel, tap all around the egg then begin to remove shell.
Ta-da! Notice that the shell peels off in bigger chunks rather than tiny little pieces?
How do you like to spend your Sunday? What are your favorite snacks to have on hand?
Football is right around the corner so soon our Sundays will be filled with touchdowns and game day snacks. Stay tuned for some of my favorite game day recipes!
Y’all come back now,
