Soft and chewy cookie bars loaded with caramel M&M’s, drizzled with salted caramel.
It’s officially summer in the south. Which means it’s hot ALL of the time. Seriously. With temperatures sitting around 100 degrees you would think I would want to avoid my oven at all costs. But I couldn’t resist. When the idea (and craving) for this recipe came to mind I just had to dive in. I couldn’t resist because caramel might be my favorite thing in the whole world.
Well, actually first would have to be my husband of course and then my dog. And football. And wine too so … it’s definitely in my top 10.
When I saw that M&Ms decided to up their game and fill those delicious candy coated chocolates with caramel I was 100% on board. I think all of my favorite candies/chocolate bars have caramel. It’s my favorite sundae/ice cream topping too. I would put it on almost anything. My obsession with it is almost as bad as my best friend’s addiction to ranch. For real. But there’s nothing wrong with having a little bit of a sweet tooth, right?
I truly believe that life is all about balance. A little bit healthy, a little bit treat yo self. A little bit of planning, and little bit of spontaneity. A little sweet, a little salty. And that is what you’re getting in this recipe.
That perfect combination of salty and sweet in a soft and chewy cookie bar loaded with caramel M&Ms and drizzled with the best salted caramel.
If you’ve never made your own caramel before I suggest you give it a try. The caramel I made for this recipe is over at Live Well, Bake Often. It’s delicious, perfectly salted and super easy to make.
These cookie bars are super easy to make too! And such a crowd-pleaser. These would also be delicious with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and/or a scoop of ice cream. Or take it next level and use them to make ice cream sandwiches.
Or just eat them straight from the pan while watching Big Brother on your couch. I won’t judge you.
I hope my fellow caramel addicts love this recipe as much as I do!
Y’all come back now
